I’ve heard many people comment recently that there seems to be a baby boom occurring. A friend said to me yesterday over lunch that it’s common for baby booms to occur in times of recession. If we are in a boom, that means a lot of little Year of the Tiger babies are going to be around – so what does that mean?

Though I’m not a believer in astrology, it’s fun to look stuff up. Here’s an excerpt from one website that is fairly detailed on what to expect from your Tiger baby. I chose to pull out the “positive traits”, but the website also shows “negative traits” and more. For instance, apparently tiger babies are at their best in springtime. Years of The Tiger: 1902 1914 1926 1938 1950 1962 1974 1986 1998 2010.

“Tiger babies are generally very cheerful with a passion for life that keeps them forever curious. They have a taste for adventure and parents will need to be ever watchful of possibly dangerous escapades. Both boys and girls will enjoy being competitive and excel in athletics. In the classroom, Tiger children will advance in subjects that allow them the freedom to creatively express themselves. These kids will be natural born leaders and will be popular with their peers.

Children with a Tiger sign will never show fear in the face of adversity. They are persistent and tenacious, especially in achieving their goals. They can endure considerable physical hardship. Similar to their feline namesakes, they will have a proverbial endless number of lives and will recreate themselves over and over again until they feel that they have achieved a level of success. They are larger than life; warm-hearted extroverts. These children can’t help but be noticed and are often extremely good-looking.”

Read more at Suite101

Most compatible animal signs with the tiger are dog, pig and horse.

Well, it will be interesting to see how predictive this is for our little one. I picked this video for this post because it shows what I think having a tiger will be like – at least for the first year.

According to our 18 week ultrasound technician, Denis and I are expecting a little boy some time around September 26th. Our OB has confirmed that everything is progressing in an A+ fashion and that there’s nothing to worry about. What a relief after so many months. We’re thrilled at this first peek at little baby boy Tsui, and wanted to share him with you as well.

In this posted video, you can see him stretch his back, suck his thumb, and get a close up look at the 4 chambers of his heart – which is happily pumping away at 154 beats per minute. One of our favourite moments is when the ultrasound captures just the bottoms of his feet!

It sure doesn’t look like he has much room in there, so I hope I hurry up and grow some more space for him soon. Denis says that at least he’ll be used to smallish quarters already when we move him into the condo.

By the way, at a few points the ultrasound is steady but the uterus seems to shake up and down – that’s me laughing. The poor boy must get shaken up quite a bit.
